Introduction to Brain (Neuroscience of Parenting)

Our brain is the most difficult machine in the universe. These words are not mine, but they are the words of a very famous physicist, a scientist, who is called Mishayo Kaku. 

Our brain has 80 billion, some places 87 billion, and some places 100 billion, three figures, so many neurons, that is, brain cells. And every neuron can make 10 to 10,000 connections. So you can guess from this that when 80 billion neurons make connections from 10 to 10,000, then there will be trillions of connections in our brain. And when connections are made in the brain, then at that time a person is learning something new. That is, the connection and learning of the brain are equal to each other. New cells of the brain should be produced. New cells of a person are produced all their life, but some factors help a lot in the production of these cells. This is called neurogenesis. Today’s science tells us that our brain is not fixed. Some time ago, we thought that the way we are talking about 24 years, so for 24 years, new cells of the brain are produced, but when a person gets old, goes into puberty, then at that time his brain cells stop producing. But today’s science tells us that this is not the case. Brain cells continue to be produced throughout life, neurogenesis continues to happen. But its rate is very high in childhood. And as we get older, its rate starts to decrease. But the good news for you is that your brain cells are being produced. I am showing you a neuron here. Look at this simple cell. This is a neuron. Like this, 80 billion neurons are present in a child’s brain. And this neuron consists of a long dome and a nucleus on its side. You can also see its terminals here. And then there are connections between them. When more than two neurons connect with each other, then it happens when a person learns something new. So new connections are formed. I have told you this before. If all neurons are connected to each other as much as possible, it means that we are learning very well. And if these connections are strong, they will not break, then we will remember that thing for a long time. We will remember the journey of that month for a long time. And if these connections are very loose, they will break easily, then we will start forgetting things. I am showing you different animations of the brain here. So you can see how the brain is a jungle of herbs, in which there are different connections. And electrical signals are traveling from one place to another. And the light you see here is called the firing of neurons, which we will study further. So when a child is born, the cells of his brain are different. Neurons are different. But as he learns, grows, learns things, makes habits, meets people, his brain’s neurons start connecting with each other. And the more connections there are, the better his learning will be. He will be able to study, remember things, learn skills, interact, communicate in the same way.
